What is Webmonkey?
Webmonkey, aka Greasemonkey+, is a Firefox extension allowing you to customize web pages, or whole web sites, thanks to small pieces of code: user-scripts. You can create them yourself or you can just install some of the ~40,000 already existing scripts.
Why Webmonkey?
Webmonkey was friendly forked from Greasemonkey for many reasons, but the main one is: they have different goals.
When Greasemonkey was first created, a few years ago, its objective of "adding bits of DHTML to web pages to change their behavior" was well adapted to its environment of mainly static web pages. Since that time, the environment has evolved a great deal and many web pages are now full web applications, using technologies like AJAX, etc.
This new ecosystem calls for a new approach of the client-side web: Webmonkey grasps this exciting challenge, providing new solutions while remaining compatible with the huge existing user-scripts base.
