Webmonkey icon wastes horizontal space

"Greasemonkey is currently the only icon on my statusbar which wastes an unacceptable amount of space. I'm attaching an image which illustrates how it currently looks (top) and how it should look (bottom)."

I think I fixed this for my own Greasemonkey installation with this user style (which hints at the issue):

gm-status-image { margin:0 !important; }
